ABOUT

Welcome to IBS Conference on Surface Atomic Wires.

This is the first international conference for self-assembled atomic wires on semiconductor surfaces. These systems started to be intensively studied after the finding of interesting 1D metallic band structures and phase transitions in the late half of 1990’s. Major physics discussed so far includes, charge density wave, non-Fermi liquids, silicon magnetism, spin-orbit interaction and recently topological phases and excitations.

This conference aims to bring most of the active research groups and expert in this field together to discuss the above issues, define unsolved problems clearly, and find possible new directions.

From Incheon Int’l Airport or Seoul to Pohang

By train

The KTX high-speed trains connect Pohang Station with Incheon Int’l Airport (ICN) or Seoul Station. It takes about 3 hours 20 minutes from Incheon Int’l Airport (only one KTX train departing at 12:07) to Pohang Station and about 2 hours 20 minutes from Seoul Station (KTX trains departing at 05:45, 06:50, 08:40, 09:45, 13:00, 14:35, 16:10, 16:55, 19:10, 22:10) to Pohang Station. It is advised to book your ticket in advance. (Tickets can be booked up to one month in advance.)

Airport Railroad Express (AREX) trains and subway trains connect Incheon Int’l Airport and Seoul Station which takes about 45~60 minutes.

Express buses connect Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal with Incheon Int’l Airport (ICN). Buses depart from Incheon Int’l Airport bus stop number 10C (located on 1st floor) at 7:00, 8:50, 13:40 and 21:30 and it takes about 5 hours.

By airplane

Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and Air Busan operates flights between Gimpo Int’l Airport (GMP) and Gimhae Int’l Airport (PUS) which takes about 55 minutes. Limousine buses and subway trains are operated between Incheon Int’l Airport (ICN) and Gimpo Int’l Airport (GMP) and it takes about 1 hour.

From Gimhae Int’l Airport to Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal

Cross-country Limousine buses connect Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal with Gimhae Int’l Airport (PUS). Buses depart from domestic terminal at 07:05, 07:35, 08:35, 10:35, 11:35, 12:35, 13:35, 14:35, 15:35, 16:35, 17:35, 16:35, 17:35, 18:35, 19:35, 20:45, and 22:05 and it takes about 2 hours.
